Migrant Women's Support & Accommodation Service Inc. (MWSAS) is a non-government, not-for-profit community based organisation, established since 1985.
MWSAS receives its funding from the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program to provide support and a short-term crisis accommodation to non-English speaking women and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, who are experiencing domestic violence perpetrated by a spouse or partner.
Domestic violence is a crime that is unacceptable in Australia. It is the most common form of assault that covers a range of behaviours, such as physical, verbal, psychological abuse, sexual violence, economic and social abuse by a husband, defacto or boyfriend. - Please refer to the Resources page of this website, for a more detailed explanation of domestic violence and for the type of services provided, in a variety of languages.
MWSAS operates within a Feminist framework that recognises the diversity of women’s culture and family forms, promotes equality and supports the rights of women and children.
